What is hardness?

Hardness is an indicator of the total amount of calcium and magnesium mineral content contained in water. To put it simply, water that contains a comparatively large amount of calcium and magnesium is “hard water,” and water that contains fewer of these minerals is called “soft water.” For infants and the elderly, “less than 60 mg/l” is ideal when considering water for those with fragile digestive systems and those who are sensitive to allergens. “Soft water” permeates through objects quickly, possesses superior absorbency, and smoothly eliminates waste products.
Shibushi Water has a hardness of 40 and is a
“soft water”

What is silica?

Silica is silicon oxide, which comprises approximately 60% percent of the earth’s crust. It is also called silicon dioxide and silicic anhydride, among other names. Silica is a mineral that is very important for the human body and is an essential micronutrient. Though it is a nutrient that is important for the health of our bones, joints, blood, skin, hair, and nails, a single adult consumes 10–40 mg of silica per day. While young, our bodily tissues are able to continually take in a large amount of silicon. That is why younger bodies are flexible, elastic, are covered in soft skin, and our skeleton maintains its hardness. However, as we age, the level of silicon in our bodies drops, resulting in conditions such as the creation of dry skin and wrinkles, as well as bones that break more easily.

What is pH value?

pH value expresses the degree of acidity and alkalinity for a substance. A low pH value means that the substance is an “acid,” and mineral water is generally in the range of “5-9.” Japanese water is often in the range of “6.5-7.5”. From a health perspective, a low concentration of acidity and alkalinity in the range of “6.0-7.5” is said to be the most suitable.
Shibushi Water has a pH value of 6.8, making it a
“weakly acidic mineral water.”

Legendary Water “Shibushi Water”

「飲まずには通れぬ水がしたたる ~志布志にて~」

“You cannot pass through wituout drinking the water that drips in Shibushi”

These words composed by the haiku poet Santoka Taneda mark that "Shibushi Water" has been long known as a delicious-tasting water.

The legendary water “Shibushi Water” begins in the sprawling Shirasu-Daichi plateaus, an iconic feature of the Southern Kyushu region. We take clean spring water that has been naturally filtered over many years through these plateaus and fill it into bottles using high-performance mechanical equipment to produce extremely safe, natural mineral water. In addition to minerals such as calcium and magnesium, our water is also rich in silica, which is scarce in Japan.

  1. 5 year shelf life.
  2. Water source managed by Shibushi City.
  3. Spring water from the Shirasu Plateau in Southern Kyushu.
  4. Hygiene control by high temperature sterilization.
  5. Rich in minerals.
  6. 20 years of experience.
  7. Sales to major supermarkets, convenience stores, etc.
